IMPHAL — United Naga Council (UNC), the apex body of Naga community in Manipur, has sought Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s intervention for the immediate release of six Naga civilians allegedly being held hostage.
A memorandum in this regard was submitted to the Union home minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district, Manipur, on Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki community in Manipur, on Thursday extended the ongoing total shutdown in Kuki-inhabited areas by another 48 hours with effect from midnight of May 21.
The shutdown was first imposed on May 13 following the killing of three church leaders and concerns over the alleged abduction of Kuki civilians.
