DIMAPUR — Expressing concern over the recent spate of sexual assault cases in the state, Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang on Thursday condemned the alleged rape of an 82-year-old woman in Kiphire and called for swift action against the accused.
In a post on X, Zeliang described the recent incidents as "deeply disturbing" and a matter of grave concern, stating that the latest case had "shocked the conscience of our society".
He said the incident was particularly appalling as the accused is allegedly a police personnel, describing it as a betrayal of public trust by an individual entrusted with upholding the law and protecting citizens.
