Eastern Konyak Union condemns drone attacks in civilian border villages, urging security forces and cadres to stop.
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU) has condemned drone attacks in civilian villages within the eastern Konyak area and urged security forces against targeting simple thatched houses in the dark with modern weapons.
In a press release, EKU President PM Aman and General Secretary K Akham Honwang stated that the public has no enmity with any group or government, stating that the principle of the military is to protect and save civilian lives.
The union pointed out that security forces should examine and distinguish between armed cadres and civilian life. It stated that while the public cannot control armed battle, dropping bombs constantly on civilian villages is a cowardly act by Indian security forces.
According to the EKU, the public has been traumatised by several combat drone attacks carried out by the Indian government. It stated that on July 13, 2025, a drone attack was carried out in the Hoyat field area near the village during dark hours, causing illnesses due to the release of poisonous substances and rendering the spot uncultivable.

The union added that on October 20, 2025, another drone attack took place in the early hours while people were asleep in Khammoi village, affecting the entire village and leaving residents unable to live there.
Most recently, on October 3, 2026, security forces carried out another drone attack in Langkho village during dark hours, injuring two civilians, including a nine-year-old girl, when a bomb exploded inside a house.
The EKU recalled that through a public decision on November 27 and 28, 2025, it had openly declared to Indian security forces and Naga national workers that innocent civilian lives must be identified and protected.

The union noted that the local area falls along an artificial border, stating that the Indian military has launched heavy arms and drone attacks while the Myanmar government has permitted operations in the region.
The EKU also urged Naga national workers to listen to the voice of the public, restrain from attacks and firing, and settle peace and stability in civilian areas. It called on Naga leaders to understand the conditions of their people and the trauma faced by innocent citizens in the name of Naga rights.
The union appealed to Naga national workers to cease all forms of attacks and confrontations with any government and to conduct any unrelated activities in barren areas where no civilians reside, warning that innocent lives are being devastated by Indian and Myanmar forces as well as factional crises.
