NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) has accused the Indian army of carrying out an indiscriminate drone attack on the “peaceful Naga population” of Langkho village in the Eastern Konyak Region of Myanmar
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) has accused the Indian army of carrying out an indiscriminate drone attack on the “peaceful Naga population” of Langkho village in the Eastern Konyak Region of Myanmar, in the early hours of Saturday.
Condemning the “cowardly” act, the group, also known as NSCN-K (YA), stated in a press release that two innocent civilians, including a 9-year-old girl, were severely injured in the unprovoked aggression.
The group described the incident as “an escalation in Indian military brutality, directly punishing non-combatants who have nothing to do with armed conflict”.
“Targeting defenseless civilians out of battlefield frustration and as instruments of retaliation exposes a complete moral bankruptcy and degradation of Indian military ethics which constitutes an undeniable crime against humanity and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law,” the group stated, adding that deliberate targeting of civilian population would not be tolerated.
Calling on the United Nations and international monitoring bodies to condemn and take action against what it described as “state-sponsored terrorism,” the group said the international community must not remain silent when innocent civilians, including children, become victims of armed conflict, warning that silence could embolden further atrocities.
“We also issue this direct warning to all the Naga proxy groups and individuals providing intelligence and logistical support to the Indian agencies. They are betraying their own blood. “We know exactly who they are and they will be held fully accountable for their actions. The NSCN/GPRN and the Naga army remains unyielding in our duty to protect the Naga people, our land and our freedom,” it stated.
The group also extended solidarity to the families of the injured victims and to the people of Langkho village.
