Nagaland observed the 10th World Ayurveda Day with events across districts promoting holistic health and sustainability.

DIMAPUR — The 10th World Ayurveda Day was observed on Tuesday across districts in Nagaland on the theme “Ayurveda for people and planet” with programmes organised to promote awareness on the significance of Ayurveda in fostering holistic health and environmental sustainability.
Kohima: The Integrated AYUSH Hospital (IAH), Razha, Chedema, Kohima, celebrated the day at TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Susangmongla Jamir, MO (Ayurveda).
According to an update, it was attended by around 150 participants, and the event was attended by Dr. Chumbeni Kikon, principal, TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima. Dr. Khonuo Mary, medical superintendent (MS) of the hospital, talked on the importance of Ayurveda and its relevance in modern times.
The event highlighted a demonstration of yoga, an exhibition of medicinal plants and a medicinal plant plantation drive in the school campus. Students and teachers participated in the event.

Dimapur: During the observation at Integrated AYUSH Hospital (IAH) Dimapur, the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Tiakaba Jamir, medical officer (MO), Ayurveda, while a short speech was delivered by Dr. Sentila Aier, MO Ayurveda.
Dr. Aier highlighted the relevance and holistic approach of Ayurveda in present-day lifestyle diseases and the celebration of Ayurveda Day.
The special guest of the event was Dr. George Thirah, MS, District Hospital Dimapur, who in his speech talked on the importance of Ayurveda. He added that Ayurveda, as ‘the science of life’, is a herbal medicine linked to the traditional practice of ancient India and added that any system of medicine beneficial to people’s health should be incorporated into daily practices.
The programme ended with a yoga session at IAH Dimapur and the distribution of medicinal plants.
Longleng: In observation of the day, Dr. Visino Nakhro, MO Ayurveda, CHC Yachem, Longleng district, visited the Herbal Garden at PBCA Lempong and the Herbal Garden at Yingli College, Longkongkang Campus.

The programme aimed to create awareness on the importance of Ayurveda in modern times.
Dr. Visino Nakhro interacted with the student community, emphasising the significance of Ayurveda and the vital role of herbal gardens in preserving India’s rich medicinal heritage.
She highlighted the need for conservation of endangered medicinal plants, promotion of exotic species, and sustainable use of commonly available plants in our surroundings.
The discussions also stressed how herbal resources contribute not only to health promotion but also to environmental conservation, ensuring a holistic approach to well-being.
Mokokchung: The Ayush Health and Wellness Centre (AHWC) Dispensary, Chuchuyimpang, Mokokchung, celebrated the day at its centre.
Dr. Nungshitula Lkr, MO, on the occasion, talked about Ayurveda, lifestyle modification, yoga and self-sustaining herbal gardens and organic kitchen gardens.
This was followed by a free medical check-up and free distribution of medicine and medicinal plants. There was also distribution of IEC materials and plantation of fruit-bearing trees at AHWC Dispensary Chuchuyimpang.
A total of 30 individuals attended the event.
Noklak: The Integrated AYUSH Hospital (IAH) Noklak celebrated the day at the hospital conference hall, during which Dr. Amongba Lima, MO, emphasised Ayurveda’s role in the holistic well-being of humans and the environment and addressed modern health challenges.
Yoga was demonstrated by yoga instructor Medolenuo Soukhrie, followed by a medicinal plantation drive in and around the hospital premises.
Altogether, 40 participants participated in the awareness programme.
