Four faculty members from Nagaland University features in the ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists List’ prepared by Stanford University, US

DIMAPUR — Nagaland University has announced that four of its faculty members have been featured in the ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists List’ prepared by Stanford University, US.
In a press release on Tuesday, the university stated that this recognition places Nagaland University faculty among the most influential scientists worldwide, celebrating their contributions to cutting-edge research and knowledge advancement.
“With this recognition, Nagaland University reinforces its growing stature in the global research community and its commitment to scientific excellence for societal advancement,” the university stated.
Congratulating the faculty, Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, said, “We are immensely proud of our faculty members whose outstanding contributions have brought international recognition to Nagaland University. Their inclusion in this prestigious list will inspire our students and researchers to pursue excellence and strengthen the University’s vision of advancing world-class research.”
The ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ list, compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier, identifies researchers with the most significant global impact, representing only the top 2% across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.

Rankings are based on a composite citation index (c-score), derived from six bibliometric indicators, including total citations, h-index, and citations to first, last, or single-author papers.
In addition, Prof. Ambrish Singh (Chemistry) and Prof. Pranav Kumar Prabhakar (Biotechnology) have also been featured in the exclusive Career-Long Top 2% Scientists category, which honours researchers whose lifetime body of work has consistently shaped and advanced global scientific knowledge.
The four faculty members included in the 2025 list are:
Prof. Ambrish Singh: Prof. Singh (Department of Chemistry), who had been a Visiting Professor to al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan, and University of Science and Technology, Beijing, is a leading researcher in corrosion science, electrochemistry, nanomaterials, and green inhibitors.

With over 200 publications and a high citation impact, his work has advanced sustainable materials research and industrial applications in energy and infrastructure.
Prof. Joginder Singh: Frpm the Department of Botany: Prof. Singh specialises in plant-microbe interactions, bioremediation, and environmental microbiology. His pioneering research has focused on harnessing microbial systems for sustainable agriculture, waste management, and environmental protection. He has published extensively in reputed international journals and guided multiple research scholars in advanced plant sciences.
Prof. Prabhakar Sharma: Prof. Sharma (Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology) is known for his research related to aquifer storage and recovery for groundwater management, biochar application for soil erosion control and water purification, and sampling, characterisation and mitigation of microplastic pollution. His innovations address real-world challenges faced by farmers, particularly in the north-eastern region of India, and aim to enhance productivity through eco-friendly approach of biochar-based biofertiliser in agriculture.
Prof. Pranav Kumar Prabhakar: Prof. Prabhakar (Department of Biotechnology) works in the fields of diabetes, metabolic disease, cancer biology, and molecular biotechnology. His research focuses on developing therapeutic interventions targeting diabetes, obesity, and cancer pathways. He is widely published, with impactful contributions in translational research.
