Pre-Matric Scholarship announced for ST students
DIMAPUR — The Department of School Education (SE), Nagaland, has announced that applications for the Pre-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students are now open for the academic session 2025-26. Eligible Class IX and X students can apply through the National Scholarship Portal ((https://scholarships.gov.in), a DIPR report stated. The tentative timeline for the academic year 2025-26 for fresh and renewal of scholarships in respect of Pre-Matric ST Scholarship is as follows: Application period (25/09/2025 to 25/10/ 2025), completion of verification by institutes (31/10/2025), correction of applications by students and institutes (05/11/20250, and completion of verification by L2 officers (30/11/2025).
AKM condoles Zubeen Garg’s demise

Heavy vehicle restriction on NH-702D
MOKOKCHUNG — In view of the deteriorating condition and incessant rainfall during the ongoing monsoon, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung has issued a new order on September 22, restricting the movement of all vehicles with ten (10) wheels or more along National Highway-702D from Mokokchung to Mariani. The new order issued by DC Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma, directed all concerned to adhere strictly to the order, stating that restriction will remain in effect until further notice to ensure safety.
Swachhata Hi Seva launched in Longleng
DIMAPUR — Along with the rest of the country, the Longleng Town Council (LTC) launched Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 on September 22. According to a DIPR report, the launching programme was accompanied by mass social work, which included of Cleanliness Target Unit (CTU) and Garbage Vulnerable Areas (GVPs), where stakeholders, NGOs and safai mitras took part in the event.

Free skill training in Chümoukedima
DIMAPUR — Free skill training, sponsored by the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development (NSEDM), IDAN, has been announced for Chümoukedima district. The duration of the free skill training in electrician-cum-plumbing and masonry-cum-tiling is one month and eligibility is Class 5 pass and above. Along with free training, free accommodation and food will also be provided. After the completion of training, the trainees will also be given certificates. DMC notifies on cleanliness drive
DIMAPUR — In compliance with the directive from Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has urged all business establishments, institutions and religious places to conduct cleanliness drive on September 25 from 6 am to 8 am in their respective colonies/ wards. The cleanliness drive has been initiated as part of Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. DMC has further requested all the concerned to take part in the cleanliness drive.
NCD to hold general meeting
DIMAPUR — Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) will hold its first general body meeting for the tenure 2025 to 2030 on September 27 at its conference hall at 11 am. NCD has requested all its 45 councilors, 2 councilors representing every tribe of 20 Naga tribes and affiliated CSOs, 2 from Naga Women Hoho Dimapur and 1 each from Dimapur Nagaland Students' Union, GB Union Dimapur Sadar and Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen's Federation to attend the meeting. It informed that councillors would be given assignments, duties and responsibilities for the tenure 2025 to 2030 during the meeting.
SSP cadets undertake ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign
DIMAPUR — With a mission to keep the surrounding and the environment clean, cadets of Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) undertook “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign in Punglwa B village on September 19. The team comprised of 21 NCC cadets, 28 Eco Club members and 5 staff. An update from the school stated that the event coincided with its weekly activity that is being carried out regularly every Friday in the school. It added that the event enabled the young cadets in reaching out to the nearby villages with a message to stay clean and remain healthy.
DDCF elects new team
DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has elected new team of office bearers and advisors for the tenure 2025-2030. The new team is led by Vikato P Achumi as president, Richard Haolai as vice president (admn), Chandu Agarwal as vice president, K Mar Lemtur as general secretary, Brij Kishore Rai as assistant general secretary, Ankur Sharma Biswas as finance secretary, Yanbemo Ezung as press secretary, Ahidur Rahman as treasurer. It has also elected Hokiye Yepthomi, N Joseph Lemtur and Y Kikon as advisors.
