DIMAPUR — The District Planning and Development Boards (DPDB) of Mokokchung and Longleng held their monthly meetings on Monday and discussed preparations for the upcoming 77th Republic Day celebrations.
According to an update, the Mokokchung DPDB meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Atsungba Walling, ADC Mokokchung.
The board finalised the work distributions for the upcoming 77th Republic Day celebrations, ensuring all departmental responsibilities are aligned for the national event.
In a move to boost urban sanitation, the DPDB announced a “Cleanest Ward” competition across the four urban local bodies (ULBs) in the district: Mokokchung, Changtongya, Tuli, and Mangkolemba.

Meetings held, scheduled for Republic Day 2026 preparations across Nagaland
Scheduled for March 2026, the initiative will feature cash prizes for the top three performing wards under Mokokchung Municipal Council and the top two wards from each of the other three ULBs. This incentive programme aims to foster community participation in maintaining hygiene and environmental standards across the district’s urban centres.
Meanwhile, the Longleng DPDB meeting was held at the DPDB hall, Longleng, under the chairmanship of W Manpai Phom, deputy commissioner of Longleng.
The board discussed the agenda submitted by the Phom People Council (PPC) for celebrating the platinum jubilee of Longleng town in November. The board agreed to constitute committee members for the preliminary work.
The chairman entrusted the Department of Horticulture to present their departmental activities in the next DPDB meeting.
The house also finalised the work assignment to various departments for the upcoming 77th Republic Day celebrations. The board decided to conduct mass social work on January 24.
