Longleng and Mokokchung DPDBs reviewed health, infrastructure and governance issues, approving proposals for a blood bank and fire station while discussing TB support and reforms.
DIMAPUR — The District Planning and Development Boards (DPDBs) of Longleng and Mokokchung held their monthly meetings on September 18, discussing various health, infrastructure, governance and development-related issues.
In Longleng, the meeting was held at the DPDB Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman W Manpai Phom.
According to a DIPR report, the board approved the Medical department’s proposal to establish a blood storage unit and blood bank at District Hospital Longleng and decided to forward it to the higher authority.
The board also discussed external electrification and installation of a new 100 kV distribution transformer for the newly constructed district hospital building.
The chairman briefed members on major development projects, including the Light House project at Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng, and the ongoing construction of the district hospital.
The Medical department briefed the board on the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and appealed to members and well-wishers to extend financial assistance to TB patients.
Other matters discussed included a departmental sports meet proposed for October and the collection of data on Anganwadi centres operating in private and government buildings.

The Department of School Education presented its activities through a PowerPoint presentation, following which the ADC directed the department to submit reasons for 10 schools being blacklisted. The Police Department was entrusted with making a departmental presentation at the next DPDB meeting.
Meanwhile, the Mokokchung DPDB meeting was chaired by Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsübo Jamir, at the DC’s conference hall.
Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman Ajit Kumar Verma welcomed the members and presided over the proceedings.
The board discussed the Nikshay Mitra initiative of the District TB Office, under which community members and donors support TB patients. In view of the increasing number of patients, members discussed identifying more potential donors.
The board also approved and forwarded a proposal for construction of a fire station at Changtongya town. The DC highlighted Reform Utsav 2026, aimed at improving governance and public service delivery.
District Horticulture Officer Dr. B Temjenmenla presented the department’s schemes and activities in the district.
Addressing the meeting, Minister Jamir stressed the importance of the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) and urged officers to remain updated on digital payments, government reforms, schemes and protocols.
He also encouraged officers to promote innovative ideas and recognise grassroots-level practices and solutions, while advising them to ensure proper utilisation of government offices and staff quarters.
During the meeting, Jamir launched a toll-free helpline initiated by the Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
