Around 600-700 pre-RTE teachers from 15 Nagaland districts formed a joint coordination committee to pursue exemption from the Nagaland Teachers Eligibility Test.
DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) held an emergency meeting of teachers appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act at the CANNSEA office premises in Kohima on September 18.
The meeting was attended by around 600 to 700 pre-RTE teachers from 15 districts, with Noklak and Longleng being the only districts not represented, the ANSTA stated in a press release.
The meeting unanimously resolved to form a Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of Pre-RTE Teachers to pursue their demand for exemption from the Nagaland Teachers Eligibility Test (NTET).
The JCC will be headed by Kezhalezo Solo of Kohima as convenor, Chingwang Konyak of Mon district as co-convenor and Sherin Keppen of Chümoukedima district as treasurer, along with two members from each district.

According to the resolution, the committee will take up the matter with elected representatives and the chief minister, seeking exemption of pre-RTE teachers from the NTET.
The house also unanimously resolved to collect a contribution of INR 1,000 from each affected teacher.
The meeting was chaired by ANSTA vice president Kezhalezo Solo. ANSTA president Kasheto Sumi delivered the welcome address.
During the meeting, teachers were given an opportunity to present their views, concerns and suggestions.
ANSTA general secretary Pekinto Y Jimo responded to queries raised by the participants and delivered the concluding statement.
