DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has launched its first phase of agitation after the lapse of its ultimatum served to the department of School Education (DoSE) regarding the recent teachers’ rationalisation exercise.
In a communiqué issued on September 10, the ENSF directed all federating units to seal down the offices of district education officers (DEOs) and sub-divisional education officers (SDEOs) across eastern Nagaland effective from September 11.
The federation has maintained that the rationalisation exercise carried out on August 22 had left several schools without subject teachers after many of them were transferred without relievers.

Despite submitting a representation to the department on August 26 seeking immediate retention or redeployment of teachers, the ENSF stated that its plea remained unheeded, compelling it to enforce its first phase of agitation.
In line with the directive, the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) on Thursday sealed the offices of the DEO at Kiphire district headquarters and the SDEO at Longkhim sub-division in Tuensang district.
The USSC affirmed that the blockade would continue until further directives are issued by ENSF.
