DIMAPUR — The Army Recruitment Office (ARO), Rangapahar, conducted an outreach programme on July 19 at St. Xavier College, Jalukie, in Peren district, to enhance recruitment in the Indian Army across various categories, including officers and Agniveers.
According to an update, the outreach programme was attended by over a thousand students, according to an update.
Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Yudh Seva Medal (YSM), General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, along with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG), 6 Sector Assam Rifles, attended the event.
The sessions covered the importance and nuances of the Agnipath Scheme of recruitment, login procedures, creating a login ID for registration, recruitment notifications for the year 2025-26, its advantages, opportunities after four years, and clarification of queries.
Modalities of officer entry schemes included the National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Military Nursing Services (MNS), and Territorial Army (TA), along with Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews, which were elaborated upon.

The aspirants were briefed about the eligibility criteria, application procedures, and selection processes for each scheme, specifically regarding the recruitment notification for the year 2025-2026. They were also informed about the organisation of the army and the types of arms and services. Handouts, posters, pamphlets, and other publicity materials were distributed.
A registration assistance counter for joining the Indian Army as an Agniveer was established. The ARO representative briefed students on the complete registration procedure, including the documents required for registration.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a medical camp and an interactive session on CPR and first aid at Old Thewati village in Meluri district.
The initiative was designed to extend vital healthcare services to residents of this remote area and to raise awareness about the importance of emergency response.
A total of 90 villagers benefited from the medical camp, where health experts from the Assam Rifles provided consultations for patients aged between 3 and 65 years.
In addition, officials conducted a lecture and practical demonstration on CPR and first aid, equipping villagers with crucial skills to manage common medical emergencies effectively.
