Pro Rural conducts one-day capacity-building workshop for frontline healthcare workers in Tening town.

DIMAPUR — With an aim to enhance the skills and knowledge of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and frontline healthcare workers, Pro Rural organised a one-day capacity-building workshop at the old Tening Town Council (TTC) hall, Peren district, on July 18.
An update from Pro Rural stated that the training covered key national health priorities such as tuberculosis elimination (RNTCP), non-communicable diseases (NCD), reproductive and child health, immunisation and DISHA programme.
It stated that sessions were conducted through an engaging participatory method facilitated by experienced health educators of the district.

In his welcome address, Director of Pro Rural, Paul Lokho, highlighted the need to capacitate the village healthcare workers particularly in the remote underserved regions as they are the only healthcare workers the sick recourse to in times of need. He informed that basic equipment like BP monitor and sugar testing machine have been provided to the ASHAs by Pro Rural. He also acknowledged the HCL Foundation for supporting the event.
In a step toward strengthening community-level healthcare, Pro Rural distributed health equipment kits to all the ASHAs, reinforcing its commitment to improving primary healthcare delivery. It added that the initiative reflected Pro Rural’s vision to build a capable and responsive frontline workforce in rural Nagaland.
It stated that Pro Rural would continue conducting monthly workshops in collaboration with the health department to promote community-based health leadership and improved service outreach.
Altogether, 37 ASHA workers along with nurses and health department staff representing sub-centres, primary health centres (PHC) and community health centre (CHC) under Tening block attended the workshop.
