DISHA meeting in Zunheboto stresses officer presence, accountability and coordination, while reviewing central schemes and utilisation of an FCI godown.

DIMAPUR — A District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s hall in Zunheboto under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S Supongmeren Jamir.
Dr. Sukhato A Sema, MLA and member of DISHA; Deputy Commissioner and Member Secretary of DISHA, Dharam Raj; and heads of offices and departmental officials attended the meeting, according to a DIPR report.
Addressing the meeting, Jamir stressed the importance of officers remaining at their respective places of posting and discharging their duties with dedication for the welfare and development of the district.
He urged heads of offices to go beyond their routine departmental responsibilities whenever necessary to address issues affecting the district and its people.
He said officers posted in the district have an important responsibility towards the public and should use the authority entrusted to them responsibly and in the larger interest of the district.
Jamir also emphasised that the purpose of DISHA meetings would be undermined if heads of offices were not available at their respective places of posting.
He called upon departmental heads to remain accessible and responsive to public needs and cautioned against misuse of official authority.

Dr. Sema said his participation in the meeting was aimed at reviewing the implementation of key central government schemes and assessing the progress of various development programmes at the grassroots level.
He stressed the need for greater coordination among elected representatives, the district administration and government departments to ensure effective implementation of schemes and improved delivery of public services.
The MLA also raised the issue of an Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown constructed in the district at an estimated cost of INR 20 crore.
He stated that the project had been sanctioned by the Government of India and that the sanctioned amount had reportedly been fully drawn.
Sema emphasised that the facility should be put to its intended use and benefit the people of Zunheboto district. He appealed to the deputy commissioner to look into the matter and ensure effective utilisation of the FCI godown.
Earlier, Raj, in his welcome address, highlighted that the primary objective of DISHA is to review, coordinate and monitor the implementation of various development programmes and central government schemes in the district.
He emphasised the importance of effective coordination among departments to ensure that development initiatives reach their intended beneficiaries at the grassroots level.
The meeting also reviewed development activities and discussed issues concerning the implementation of various central government schemes.
Members stressed the need for close monitoring, inter-departmental coordination and timely action to ensure that government programmes translate into tangible benefits for the people.
Presentations on departmental activities were subsequently made by Assistant Labour Commissioner Tali on behalf of the Labour department and the District Agriculture Officer on behalf of the Agriculture department.
Veterinary Officer Dr. Vikato H Ayeni presented the activities of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services in Zunheboto district.
The meeting concluded with a call for greater accountability, coordination and commitment among all stakeholders towards achieving inclusive and sustainable development in Zunheboto district.
