Yimkhiung Youth Organisation held its 1st executive council conference at Pungro town, resolving key community initiatives.

DIMAPUR — The Yimkhiung Youth Organisation (YYO) held its 1st executive council conference at Pungro town on October 31 themed “SUKHIT-TO”.
The inaugural session was attended by Khesangmong Yimkhiung, proprietor of M/S Likimro Enterprise, who encouraged the youth to equip themselves with practical skills, maintain dedication, and serve as the backbone of the Yimkhiung community, according to an update.
The programme was chaired by vice president H Hanso, with a welcome address from President Apong Janger. Short speeches were delivered by Nelizo Tep, ADC Pungro; executive chairman of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC); president of the Yimkhiung GB’s Arihako; president of the Khongsa Area Public Organisation; and president of the Pungro Subdivision Public Forum.
The house unanimously resolved to implement a strict no-drugs policy throughout the Yimkhiung region. It also decided that the right to bear the Yimkhiung title would not be granted to any non-local individuals.

An annual plantation drive will take place from March to August, with strict prohibition on deforestation in any form. Further, the YYO will take strong action if any Yimkhiung person faces denial of constitutional rights or if anyone defames the Yimkhiung tribe.
The monolith dedication and invocation were led by Tsuyihba, pastor of Pungro Town Baptist Church, and the benediction by Dr Berimong, pastor of Pungro Village Baptist Church. Joshua K, YYO secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
The council also welcomed the order from the Federal Council of the Yimkhiung Tribal Council, dated October 27, 2025, which prohibits any Naga national political group from imposing taxes on local businessmen or entrepreneurs.
