Wokha DPDB officials visit Fernbrook School to interact with students and launch an elephant conflict helpline.
WOKHA — Advisor for Agriculture and Chairman of the Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), MLA Mhathung Yanthan, along with MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Wokha K Mhathung Tsanglao, Superintendent of Police Relo T Aye, and officials from various line departments, visited Fernbrook School, Wokha, on Thursday as part of the DPDB institutional visit schedule.
The team interacted with students, teachers, and the school administration, encouraging the young learners to pursue excellence through education, perseverance, discipline, leadership, and strong character.
Addressing the students, Yanthan urged them to look beyond academics and draw lessons from people and experiences around them. He advised them to identify their aspirations and work hard towards achieving their goals, while also participating actively in school events to build confidence and leadership qualities. He lauded the teachers for their dedication, noting that teaching is a responsibility requiring patience and passion in shaping young minds.
MLA Humtsoe called upon the students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies and future pursuits. He stressed the importance of respecting teachers and acknowledged their role in the holistic development of students.

DC Tsanglao highlighted that small and consistent efforts lead to greater achievements. He encouraged students to cultivate honesty, respect for parents and teachers, compassion, and integrity, stating that true worth lies not in money or professional success but in character. He also urged them to keep God at the centre of their lives while pursuing education and careers.
The DC further appreciated the teachers and administration for their commitment and the progress achieved by the institution.
Earlier, Managing Director of Fernbrook School, Rushamo Tsopoe, outlined the school initiatives for holistic student development, including prayer fellowship with parents and teachers, counselling programmes, educational visits, and other activities aimed at preparing students for life beyond school.
Meanwhile, during the DPDB meeting held at the DC’s conference hall, Yanthan officially launched a toll-free helpline number for human-elephant conflict by making the first call during the meeting.
