Western Sümi Hoho and WSKH welcome Myanmar peace talks and urge India and NSCN-K (AM) to initiate a formal ceasefire
DIMAPUR — The Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) and Western Sümi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) have welcomed the recent peace talks between the Ang Mai-led NSCN-K delegation and Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and urged the Government of India and NSCN-K (Ang Mai) to initiate a similar formal ceasefire.
In a joint statement issued on October 31, the two organisations extended their support to the peace talks held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on October 22, and called for steps towards ending hostilities.
Aligning with the sentiments of regional bodies, the WSH and WSKH stated that a formal ceasefire and cessation of hostilities were essential for long-term stability and socio-economic progress across all Naga-inhabited areas.
The organisations maintained that the need for a truce was greater than ever, noting that decades of conflict had placed an enormous strain on border communities, hindering vital infrastructure development, trade and public welfare.

They also stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue for lasting peace, stating that true stability could not be achieved in isolation and required bringing all active groups into constructive dialogue.
The WSH and WSKH appealed to New Delhi and the NSCN-K (AM) leadership to exercise political foresight and enter into a formal ceasefire agreement.
According to the organisations, an official truce would serve as a significant step towards regional harmony by ending armed confrontation and fostering an inclusive environment for political reconciliation.
The two organisations reiterated their commitment to supporting genuine peace initiatives and urged both leaderships to act in the greater interest of the Naga people.
