KOHIMA — Project Subroto/District Sub-Juniors Football Coaching for boys and girls aged 10–13 years was launched at Thizama Village Ground in Kohima on Monday.
The coaching camp, held from September 8 to the 13th, is being organised by Vision Hill School Phezoucha Kohima in collaboration with Football License Coaches Kohima District (FLCOKD) under the patronage of Kohima District Football Association (KDFA).
Addressing the launching event, Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome, president of KDFA, stated that this coaching is the first of its kind, a one-week programme for children, and stressed the need for schools to give equal importance to sports.
He maintained that God has gifted everybody with talent differently, wherein some will be good in studies, sports, music, singing, and other fields. In this regard, he emphasised the need for young students to study their talent and move forward.

Yhome observed that the trainee students are enthusiastic and, in this regard, advised them to build friendships, be smart and courageous, and not shy away from opportunities.
He also advised the students to take advantage of the experienced coaches deputed for the coaching camp in order to learn.
The president noted that Vision Hill School would be building an astroturf ground, which he hoped would enable the students to learn and progress further.
Highlighting that in the Subroto Cup both boys and girls can now play—wherein under-15 boys compete in Bengaluru and under-17 girls in Delhi annually—Yhome also challenged the school management to send teams for competition at the state level in order to compete at the national level.

Meanwhile, Kethosituo Mepfhüo, chairman of the managing board of Vision Hill School, delivering the keynote address, said the camp is being organised to assemble sub-junior teams, to look for talents, to train and nurture them, so that the players would hopefully represent Kohima district in the near future as well as the state at the Subroto Cup.
He stated that, irrespective of whether students are studying at Vision Hill School or not, the idea of the coaching camp is to assemble sub-junior teams.
Informing that the long-term vision of Vision Hill School is to set up a football academy, he said that starting from the six-day coaching camp, more similar events would also be held in the future.
The chairman informed that at the end of the coaching period, certificates would be provided to the students, expressing hope that the coaching would push them to become better footballers.
More than 50 students from Don Bosco, St. Luke, Regimental School, Vision Hill School, Mezhür High, Northfield, and G Rio School are enrolled for the six-day camp that will be run by coaches from FLCOKD — Leketoulie Liezietsu, AFC-C coach; Neiphrezolie Usou, AIFF-D coach; and Thangchapu Rongmei, AIFF-D coach.
