DIMAPUR — With election-related checks intensifying across the Assam border, Dimapur Police on Thursday issued a public advisory urging Nagaland residents to exercise caution while travelling to Assam during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
In a press note, the office of the commissioner of police, Dimapur, stated that surveillance and checking have been stepped up at inter-state borders and key transit points to ensure free and fair elections.
The advisory cautioned that several instances have already been reported where travellers faced inconvenience due to lack of awareness about election-related restrictions.
Citizens have been specifically advised to avoid carrying large amounts of cash without valid proof, as it may invite detention, questioning, or even seizure by authorities.

Travellers have also been asked to carry proper documentation for valuables such as gold, silver, or other high-value items to prevent unnecessary scrutiny.
The police further warned against carrying any political materials, including pamphlets or posters, without proper authorisation, stating that it could lead to legal action.
In addition, vehicles are being subjected to thorough checks at multiple points, and commuters have been urged to cooperate with authorities and carry valid identity proof and relevant documents at all times.
Carrying arms or ammunition without valid licences and necessary permissions has been strictly prohibited, the advisory added.
