Sao Chang College and Vivekananda Welfare Foundation celebrated Teachers’ Day by honouring dedicated educators.
DIMAPUR — Along with the rest of the nation, Sao Chang College and Vivekananda Welfare Foundation celebrated Teachers' Day on September 5.
In Tuensang, Sao Chang College celebrated Teachers' Day at the Multipurpose Hall on the theme "Honouring the guides".
On the occasion, Principal Dr. Lanurenla and Vice Principal Dr. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar acknowledged the struggles, hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts of the teachers, recognising their role in guiding, nurturing, and shaping the lives of students, according to an update.
Assistant Professor Akyuba Sangtam shared advice with the students, stressing the importance of discipline, punctuality, sincerity, and making responsible use of their time in college. He encouraged them to focus on their academic pursuits and personal growth while making the most of the opportunities available to them.
In Dimapur, the Vivekananda Welfare Foundation (VWF) paid tribute to two distinguished educators on September 5, recognising their decades-long dedication to teaching, mentoring, and shaping generations of young minds.

As part of a new annual initiative, VWF decided to honour two exemplary teachers every year, one from the school level and one from the college level, whose dedicated service has made a meaningful contribution to education and society.
This year, the foundation honoured Subra Roy, a teacher at Lewis Academy in Dimapur, who has been serving in the field of education since 1993, completing more than three decades of service.
The foundation also honoured Dr. Dalia Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at SD Jain Girls' College, Dimapur, who began her teaching career as a lecturer in 1997 and has devoted nearly three decades to the teaching profession.
Rather than holding a formal ceremony, board members of VWF visited their residences to present them with a Certificate of Distinguished Service and a commemorative memento as a token of appreciation for their contribution to education.
Speaking on the initiative, Founder and Director of Vivekananda Welfare Foundation Niranjan Saha said, "Teachers may not always seek recognition, but their influence remains in every life they touch. Through this initiative, VWF wishes to express our humble gratitude to those educators who have spent decades nurturing minds, building character and shaping the future of society.”
