Suruhuto-Asuto leaders ban hunting, fishing, alcohol, and narcotics to protect wildlife and environment.

DIMAPUR — For the conservation of wildlife, flora, and fauna, and the ban on alcohol and narcotic substances, a joint meeting of all the village council chairmen (VCC) and gaon bura (GBs) of the Suruhuto-Asuto area was held on Thursday at Suruhuto town.
The meeting was initiated by S Toiho Yeptho, Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), and attended by the VCC of 32 villages and three towns of the Suruhuto-Asuto area, according to an update.
Following the meeting, resolutions were unanimously adopted which included a complete blanket ban on all forms of hunting or fishing throughout the 33 Suruhuto-Asuto Assembly Constituency.

An action committee, namely the Wildlife Protection Committee, Suruhuto-Asuto Area, was constituted to formulate the necessary modalities, rules, processes, etc., for the full implementation of the resolution adopted and for the protection of wildlife, flora, and fauna in the entire area.
Also, a complete blanket ban on the sale, purchase, transport, possession, and use of any illicit drugs and narcotic substances in all the villages and towns of the 33 Suruhuto-Asuto Assembly Constituency was adopted, as well as a complete ban on the sale of alcohol in all the villages and towns of the 33 Suruhuto-Asuto Assembly Constituency.
