WOKHA — Advisor for CAWD and Taxes Kudecho Khamo on Thursday urged the contractors executing construction works under the Civil Administration to expedite works for timely completion.

Khamo was on an inspection of the construction of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office complex in Tseminyu, Administrative Officers' quarters in Tseminyu, and the new Deputy Commissioner Office in Wokha, along with officials of the Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) led by Assistant Chief Engineer Sungtiba Amer.

During the inspection of the under-construction DC office complex and Administrative Officers' quarters in Tseminyu, Khamo acknowledged the generosity of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for allocating funds for the construction of offices and quarters.

He also appreciated the efficiency of the CAWD officials led by the assistant chief engineer, who are overseeing the works to ensure timely completion of the projects.

He urged the contractors to expedite the works, highlighting that Tseminyu, being a young district, requires infrastructure for the functioning of offices and quarters for officers to serve the people.

While appreciating the current pace of work, he encouraged the contractors to maintain the same momentum and follow the stipulated timeline.

The inspection was joined by DC Tseminyu Japhet Woch, the contractor, and other officials. Woch also informed the inspection team that Tseminyu is free from land encumbrances for development purposes with regard to the administrative sector.

At the inspection of the new DC Office in Wokha, which was joined by the district administration led by DC Wokha Vineet Kumar and the contractor, the advisor recalled that he had visited the site for the new DC Office Complex in Wokha back in April 2023.

While appreciating that, soon after the land was acquired, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) was prepared and work had started, he instructed the contractors to expedite the works for early completion.

Khamo mentioned that the Government of Nagaland is seriously committed to delivering quality infrastructure in a timely manner to enable better governance. In this regard, he stated that contractors shouldn't be lax in executing projects.

Meanwhile, CAWD's Assistant Chief Engineer, Sungtiba Amer, also instructed the contractors involved in the constructions at both Tseminyu and Wokha to expedite the works. He explained the funding patterns and stated that the projects have a stipulated timeline, and if performance is not shown within that period, the funds may lapse.

He also advised the contractors to stock construction materials ahead of the rainy season so that the pace of work is not affected.
