DIMAPUR — The 33rd edition of the Suhokhe Yeptho Memorial Football and Volleyball Tournament, organised by the Suruhuto Area Sports Association, commenced with a formal inaugural programme in Zunheboto on Monday.
S Toiho Yeptho, Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), attended the occasion as the special guest, while Joseph Sumi, Sports Officer, Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre, attended as the guest speaker.
Late Suhokhe Yeptho, in whose memory the tournament is being organised, was the father of S Toiho Yeptho.

In his address, the guest speaker stressed the importance of discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship among players. He encouraged the sportspersons to remain focused, respect their coaches and teammates, and pursue excellence with sincerity and commitment.
He further highlighted that sports play a vital role in building character, leadership, and unity among the youth, adding that consistent effort and discipline are key to achieving success both in sports and in life.
The inaugural programme concluded with the special guest ceremonially kicking off the tournament, marking the formal commencement of the sporting events.
