NWA to host the 30th Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship and Under 15 event on March 6 and 7 at Khuochiezhie, Kohima.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) held a coordination meeting with representatives from seven provisional units at the NWA office, Kohima, on January 31, ahead of the NWA 30th Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship and NWA 1st Under 15 & Provisional Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship.
The championships are scheduled to be held on March 6 and 7 at Khuochiezhie in Kohima, according to an update.
The seven provisional units included the Lotha Wrestling Association, Sumi Wrestling Association, Pochury Wrestling Association, Rengma Wrestling Association, Chang Wrestling Association, Sangtam Wrestling Association, and Tikhir Wrestling Association.

According to the update, for the first time after the formation of the wrestling association, a separate state-level Naga Traditional Wrestling championship for the said associations will be held on day one, March 6, along with the Under 15 championship.
All provisional units will be entitled to participate in the championship with eight wrestlers each. They will compete in the championship with the division of three groups as was practised by the three NWA affiliated units, where the four best wrestlers will be awarded cash prizes along with citations. Besides, all participating wrestlers will also be awarded cash incentives.
Day two will witness the NWA 30th Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship, which will be attended by Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland, as the special guest.
The NWA appealed to all wrestling lovers from far and near to come and witness the mega sports festival. Other details of the championships shall be intimated in due course.
