MP S Supongmeren Jamir reviews government schemes at Niuland and Phek DISHA meetings.

DIMAPUR — MP Lok Sabha and Chairperson of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), S Supongmeren Jamir, chaired DISHA meetings in both Niuland and Phek districts to review progress on government development programmes.
According to an update from Niuland, the meeting was held at the DC conference hall on Wednesday and was attended by all the committee members and representatives from villages.
During the meeting, six departments gave presentations on departmental activities, which were followed by discussions.
In the DISHA meeting held at the DC conference hall in Phek on July 15, Jamir encouraged the members of DISHA Phek to come forward with any challenges faced by the concerned departments to find solutions for the successful implementation of the developmental projects sanctioned by the central government.
According to a DIPR report, he informed the house that the main objective of the DISHA committee is to carry out the developmental activities of centrally sponsored schemes (CSS) smoothly through coordination and support from all concerned authorities, including village councils and civil society organisations (CSOs).
He asserted that developmental works in the villages have to be taken care of and supported by the village councils and CSOs.
Jamir asked the concerned developmental departments with CSS schemes to complete the developmental schemes/works within the stipulated period so that more new projects/schemes can be uploaded/submitted to the government for further development in the district.

He also spoke on the importance of the labour card, which was deliberated by the district labour officer during the meeting, informing that the department has registered over 700 labour cards in the district.
The MP further informed the members about the system of scheme selection for the construction of village connectivity roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme in Phek district. In this regard, he stated that those schemes should be routed through the concerned MLAs of the district.
The departments of Rural Development, DRDA, Public Health Engineering, and Food and Civil Supplies highlighted various ongoing development schemes through PowerPoint presentations at the meeting.
Detailed interactions on schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin, food grain allocation, and the status of ration cards were highlighted by the concerned department officers.
Concerning "Clean and Green Nagaland" under Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) 2025-26, Jamir suggested the plantation of ornamental trees within residential areas and office compounds to maintain a healthy environment. The house then resolved that each member of the DISHA committee and officers would plant a tree.
The MP, accompanied by the DC and SP of Phek, also inspected the ongoing construction of a hostel building under the "Nagaland Education Project – Light House (NECTAR)". The site engineer in charge of the construction was asked to speed up the progress of the work for the early completion of the building.
