DIMAPUR — The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) convened its meeting on July 11 at the DC conference hall, Wokha, under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, S Supongmeren Jamir.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting focused on assessing the progress of developmental schemes and addressing challenges faced by various departments in Wokha district.
Speaking on the occasion, Jamir highlighted the core objectives of DISHA, emphasising its role in ensuring transparency, proper implementation, and monitoring of centrally sponsored schemes.

He expressed concern over irregularities in fund distribution, delays in project execution, and the need for accurate assessment of on-ground challenges. He also stressed the importance of improving public service delivery channels and urged departments to enhance the accessibility and impact of schemes, particularly those benefiting farmers.
During the meeting, the Public Health and Engineering Department presented updates on the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), focusing on household coverage and the availability of safe drinking water. It also provided progress details on the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), while identifying implementation hurdles affecting the pace of work.
The District Rural Development Agency shared details on various ongoing schemes and rural infrastructure projects. Similarly, the Urban Development Department presented updates on PMAY-Urban for Wokha and Bhandari sub-divisions, underlining issues related to implementation and beneficiary coverage. An update on the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was also shared.
The Department of Agriculture discussed initiatives currently underway, highlighting the lack of cold storage facilities as a major constraint for farmers. The Horticulture Department gave an overview of schemes and projects undertaken, along with operational challenges.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need to appeal to central ministries for enhanced funding and resources, particularly where allocations were found insufficient for project completion. Chairman Jamir reiterated DISHA’s commitment to ensuring the successful execution of development initiatives through coordinated governance and accountability.
