- KOHIMA — Governor
La Ganesan on Monday said that substantial progress has been made regarding the
Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) and expressed hope that any
remaining concerns of the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) would
be addressed.
- He made this statement while addressing the sixth session of
the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
- Ganesan mentioned that the state government had submitted
its comments on the third draft of the 'Memorandum of Settlement' concerning
the FNTA to the Ministry of Home Affairs on November 6, 2024.
- He further noted that two rounds of discussions have already
taken place—one in New Delhi and the other in Chümoukedima.
- Also, the governor acknowledged the significance of the
session, as it comes in the backdrop of the 60th year of the Nagaland
Legislative Assembly’s existence.

- He stated that his government would soon be
entering its third year and reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its
promises to the people.
- Ganesan highlighted the collective efforts of the Assembly
in ensuring a peaceful resolution of the Naga political issue.
- “As assured by the chief minister on the floor of this
House, my government held a consultative meeting with apex tribal bodies and
civil society organisations to deliberate on the Naga political issue. The
meeting was held on September 12, 2024. I thank the members of this august
House for their wholehearted cooperation in this important matter,” he said.
- He further informed that on November 21, 2024, the chief
minister, along with his Cabinet colleagues, had met the Union Home Minister to
convey the people’s desire for an early resolution of the issue.
