Nagaland Governor La Ganesan expects 'right spirit' in NLA session
Governor La Ganesan expressed confidence that deliberations during the sixth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly would be done in the “right spirit,”
KOHIMA — As the
sixth session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly began on Monday,
Governor La Ganesan expressed confidence that deliberations inside the house
would be done in the “right spirit,” keeping in view the citizens' welfare.
“It is necessary for all of us to work towards the
fulfilment of the policies of the government,” he said, highlighting the state
government's initiatives in his third NLA address.
Phase II of Kisama
development
The governor said that phase II development of Naga Heritage
Village Kisama has commenced with plans of upgrading the VIP rostrum and the
main stage to international standards.
Under Swadesh 2.0, eco-tourism experience at Chumoukedima
viewpoint and tribal cultural experience at Midway Retreat, Chumoukedima, have
been initiated.
The department is focusing on projecting the state as a Green
Destination to achieve the goals enshrined in the Nagaland Tourism Policy 2024.
Konyak Heritage Complex at Mon is also nearing completion.
INR 10 cr. allocated
under CMCF
During fiscal 2024-25, a significant allocation of INR 10
crore was made under the Chief Minister's Corpus Fund (CMCF) to support
initiatives aimed at fostering education, entrepreneurship, and skill
enhancement across different sectors. At present, there are 29 ongoing projects
for a total approved cost of INR 526.83 crore. Under the PM-DeVINE, there are
four ongoing projects for a total approved cost of INR 376.87 crore.
The North Eastern Council is undertaking 74 projects in
various sectors in different districts in Nagaland.
The Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre carried out
comprehensive mapping for all district headquarters and towns, integration of
urban data, and reconstructions—drone technology providing near-real-time data
for more effective planning and management.
With the creation of Meluri district, there are 17 district
headquarters, 24 additional deputy commissioner sub-divisions, 18
sub-divisional officer (Civil) sub-divisions, and 63 extra assistant
commissioner circles in the state, he informed.
NP registers 1308
cognisable cases
Nagaland Police has registered 1,308 cognisable cases, out
of which 108 cases involved members of armed Naga political groups. Illegal
drugs worth more than INR 44 crore were also seized in 2024.
The Excise and Prohibition department made seizures worth
more than INR 1.18 crore and arrested more than 1,770 persons.
As of February 1, 2025, there were 10,826 active taxpayers
under GST. Various GST awareness and training programmes are being conducted at
regular intervals to enlighten stakeholders towards tax compliance.
The department of Fire & Emergency Services has
constructed 15 rainwater-harvesting reservoirs along with deep bore wells for
its utility towards fire prevention and safety in the state under SASCI,
covering ten districts. Of these, three each are in Kohima and Kiphire, 2 in
Peren, and one each in Chumoukedima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Wokha,
and Zunheboto districts.
Skill training for
1,050 youths
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
scheme, the department of Youth Resources and Sports aims to provide skill
training to 1,050 youths across three job roles for one year, sponsored by the
Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Nine Industrial Training Institutes under the department of
Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship provide training across 16
trades, including 12 engineering and four non-engineering disciplines. So far,
11,092 trainees have successfully passed the All India Trade Test.
Under the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for
Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) project, a Centre of Excellence for Media &
Entertainment is being established in collaboration with the Media &
Entertainment Skill Council.
Under Special Assistance to State for Capital Investment
(SASCI) 2023 24, a Children & Adolescence Library and Digital
Infrastructure is being implemented by the department. To date, 68 libraries
have been constructed in various districts.
44 CCIs covering 699
children
Under Mission Vatsalya, there are 44 child care
institutions, covering an average of 699 children under Sponsorship and Foster
Care Benefits. Assistance is provided under National Social Assistance
Programme to 63,678 beneficiaries across the state.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY),
assistance through DBT to 7,563 beneficiaries was provided.
Multi-Disciplinary
Sports Complex
The Minority Affairs department is implementing the
following projects: Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex at Naga Ki Global City
Chumoukedima (Phase-I), three units of Women Entrepreneurship Facilitation
Centres in Kohima, Mokokchung & Tuensang districts, and a
library-cum-conference hall at Zunheboto district.
11 new EMRSs
Under Tribal Affairs department, there are 3 functional
Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Nagaland: one each at Diphupar, Tuensang,
and Tizit. Eleven new EMRS are being constructed.
The department is implementing 19 new projects under
Ministry of Tribal Affairs amounting to INR 20.7 crore.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana, 530
villages have been selected, with each village receiving INR 20.38 lakh as a
gap-filling fund for various development projects. Already 208 villages have
been covered, and the rest are expected to be covered by 2026.
2 lakh unorganised
workers registered
A total of 2,32,758 unorganised workers in Nagaland have
been registered on e-SHRAM portal. Social security benefits/welfare schemes for
unorganised workers, run by different ministries/state governments, are
expected to be delivered through this portal in the future.
The Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme has empaneled 66
hospitals outside Nagaland and 66 within Nagaland. A total of 17,501 claims
have been approved by the government, and 11,638 claims have been settled.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
(AB PM-JAY), 77 hospitals are empaneled within Nagaland. A total of 30,379
claims have been approved, and 22,914 claims have been settled as of February
16, 2025.
