DIMAPUR — St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, inaugurated its Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) programme on Thursday at the college conference hall.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Research and Development Cell (RDC) in collaboration with the Department of History, aims to enhance blended teaching and learning in line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
According to an update, as part of this effort, the college has developed its own software for online courses, which will be integrated into the academic curriculum. The software aligns with the UGC’s threefold objective of improving access, equity, and quality in higher education.
The special guest, V Lovitoly Sema, Additional Secretary, Higher and Technical Education, and Ex-Officio Director, Higher Education, on the occasion encouraged the students to be assets to society, urged them to choose the harder right over the easier wrong, and motivated them to dream big and strive for success.

She also reminded the faculty members of their duty towards students and urged them to continue moulding young minds with dedication to help them excel in life.
Further, she lauded the college for launching a software programme like MOOCs that provides a platform for students to learn anytime and anywhere conveniently and encouraged all attendees to think out of the box and continue organising such innovative programmes in the future.
Also, on the occasion, Khiongri A., the computer instructor at the college, provided an overview of the dynamics of MOOCs, demonstrating the steps for registration and the subsequent processes.
