KOHIMA — Nagaland is currently hosting a research methodology workshop focused on health research methods for professionals and researchers from a medical background in the state capital, Kohima.


The three-day event is being organised by the Healthcare Laboratory and Research Centre, Nagaland Institute of Science and Technology, and St. John’s Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru. It got underway at Hotel Japfu on Wednesday.


Dr. Vinotsole Khamo, managing director and nodal officer of the MRU Healthcare Laboratory and Research Centre, Nagaland Institute of Science and Technology, Kohima, said the workshop is the first of its kind to be conducted in Nagaland.


Participants from various medical institutes and hospitals across Nagaland, Mizoram, and Manipur are attending the workshop.

Dr. Denis Xavier, head of the division of clinical research and training at St. John’s Medical College and Research Institute, outlined that the main objectives of the workshop were to familiarise a wide range of health professionals with the fundamentals of health research methods and to facilitate interaction with like-minded professionals.


The workshop methods will follow procedures including full sessions of lectures on study design and methods, biostatistics, and research management. It will organise smaller groups to design projects and present them.


The workshop will cover research methodology-related topics with resource persons from various medical institutions, ICMR, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
