Dimapur Police constitute SIT to investigate Lengrijan POCSO case, with two accused remanded for further interrogation

DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a senior officer to investigate a POCSO case registered at the Dimapur Women Police Station.
In a press note issued on Wednesday, police stated that the case was registered following an FIR lodged on May 25 by the guardians of a minor victim.
Police added that two persons arrested in connection with the case—O Watimeren Jamir (43), a resident of Lengrijan village, Dimapur, and Tsuktimongba Ao (37), a resident of Razaphe Industrial village, Dimapur—were produced before the court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation.

The police also appealed to the public and media organisations to refrain from sharing any information that could reveal the identity of the minor victim, stating that such disclosure is punishable under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the POCSO Act, and the Juvenile Justice Act.
It stated that the investigation is continuing and assured that the chargesheet would be filed without undue delay.
