KOHIMA — Former Governor and former Chief Minister of Nagaland, SC Jamir, called upon the Nagas to “wake up” and lead the people, stating that the situation of the Nagas is in a bad state and is getting worse.

SC Jamir was addressing the gathering during the Tsüngremmong 2025 festival celebration, organised by the Kohima Ao Telongjem (KAT), on Friday at Kisama Heritage Village.

To the Ao community, he recalled that in the political history of the Nagas, there were many leaders from the community who had led the people, and therefore, he called upon his tribesmen to stand up, lead the people, and save the Nagas from the issues surrounding them.

He also reminded the younger generation that among the Nagas, the Ao community was the first to embrace Christianity, but advised them to stay humble and not take pride in it. Instead, Jamir urged them to guide and lead the Nagas during difficult times."
