DIMAPUR — The Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima, is conducting a mid-career training for 20 Nagaland Civil Service officers with 5-7 years of work experience, with the objective to enhance their skills.


The training, which commenced from July 31, will conclude on August 2, a DIPR report stated.


In the interactive sessions held on July 31 and August 1 with the Director General (DG) of ATI, V Shashank Shekhar, the officer trainees were asked to share their experiences, especially on how to improve the life of the common man.


The DG stated that while anyone can list out problems, it is important to suggest solutions. Shekhar mentioned that the core purpose of the civil service is to work for the common man. He also appreciated the experiences shared by the officer trainees.

Some suggestions proposed by the officer trainees included improving connectivity to boost economic activities and employment opportunities; developing a mechanism for timely dissemination of government schemes so that citizens can receive real time support; focus on improving the agriculture sector for economic growth through increased productivity, crop insurance, value addition, and better market linkages.


They also suggested providing occupational skills to the local populace to generate job opportunities and improve livelihood; formulation of an effective policy on human resource management through which recruitment is rationalised and quality capacity building is provide to the workforce; convergence of various departments to facilitate better governance and delivery mechanism; and establishment of mini solar grids to improve power supply.


Further, the officer trainees emphasised enhancing health infrastructure and staffing for improved quality of life, focusing on rural areas, and implementing measures to protect students and youth from substance abuse.


The interactive session was also attended by Joint Director, ATI, N Moa Longkumer; Joint Director, ATI, Kaholi Sema; Deputy Director, ATI, Imlibenla Jamir; Lecturer, ATI, Peter Konyak, and the course coordinator of the training, Deputy Secretary, ATI, Asalie Lese.
