NSEDM and Saint-Gobain Gyproc sign an MoU to launch industry-aligned training, placement and entrepreneurship support for youth in Nagaland.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), under the Investments & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), and Saint-Gobain India Private Limited (Gyproc Business) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 21 to collaborate on skill development, outcome-based training and placement support for youth in Nagaland.
According to a press release, the MoU aims to establish an industry-aligned training ecosystem for assistant technician – false ceiling and drywall installer, with a focus on equipping local youth with practical skills relevant to the emerging construction and interior solutions sector.
The collaboration seeks to address skill gaps in modern construction techniques while creating pathways for employment and entrepreneurship.
Vineet Kumar, Additional Secretary and Project Manager, NSEDM, highlighted the potential of Nagaland and the importance of developing industry-relevant skills to expand employment opportunities for the state's youth.
He said NSEDM was initiated to strengthen the state's skilling ecosystem and bridge the gap between training and actual employment opportunities.
Representing Saint-Gobain, Dr. Dharmik Vaishnav, Head – Project Sales, Key Accounts, Contractors & Skills, and Emmanuel Vijay Kumar G, Senior Manager – Skill Development, attended the MoU exchange and engaged with NSEDM on the proposed collaboration.

Under the partnership, an NSDC-certified three-month skilling programme will be offered. Saint-Gobain Gyproc will support the government in setting up a training laboratory, including a display lab, besides providing technical and training support.
The company will also provide placement assistance, handholding support for trained candidates and assistance in exploring entrepreneurship opportunities.
The proposed facility will be the first skill centre established by Saint-Gobain in the North Eastern Region.
It is expected to strengthen industry-led skill development infrastructure and create local opportunities for skilled manpower.
The initiative is considered significant for Nagaland as the state seeks to build a pool of locally trained manpower in modern construction technologies, reduce dependence on skilled workers from outside the state and retain greater economic value within the local economy.
The NSEDM will prepare candidates for training once the centre becomes operational.
The collaboration is expected to further strengthen industry-government partnerships in creating market-driven, employment-oriented and entrepreneurship-focused skilling opportunities for the youth of Nagaland.
“The initiative reflects NSEDM’s continued efforts to forge strategic partnerships with industry to create market-driven, employment-oriented and entrepreneurship-focused skilling opportunities for the youth of Nagaland,” the release stated.
