Nagaland University will host a national conference on biodiversity conservation and climate resilience on October 6–7, focusing on strategies for a sustainable future in North East India.

DIMAPUR — The brochure and flyer for the national conference on “Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Resilience in North East India–2026” were formally released on August 21 by Nagaland University (NU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik in the presence of members of the organising committee.
According to a press release issued by NU, the two-day national conference will be held on October 6 and 7 under the theme “Strategies for a Sustainable Future.”
The conference is being organised by the Department of Environmental Science, NU Lumami, in collaboration with the Forest and Biodiversity Management in Himalaya (Nagaland) Project under the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board and Lemsachenlok, Longleng.
The brochure release ceremony was attended by Dr. Latonglila Jamir, Head of the Department of Environmental Science; Dr. Pranjal Bharali; Dr. K. Eliza; Prof. Joginder Singh Panwar, Director, IQAC; and Prof. Ashutosh Tripathi, convener of the conference, along with other members of the organising committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Patnaik appreciated the initiative and emphasised the importance of biodiversity conservation and climate resilience, particularly in the ecologically sensitive North Eastern region.

He expressed confidence that the conference would provide an important platform for researchers, academicians, policymakers, conservation practitioners and students to deliberate on emerging environmental challenges and explore sustainable solutions.
Prof. Tripathi said the conference aims to bring together experts and stakeholders from diverse disciplines to discuss strategies for conserving biodiversity and strengthening climate resilience in the region.
Eminent specialists and resource persons from various fields are expected to deliver lectures and share their expertise on issues related to the conference theme.
The conference is expected to facilitate discussions, knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts among participants, contributing to sustainable environmental management and policy development in North East India.
Interested participants have been invited to submit abstracts and complete the registration process by September 15, which is the last date for both abstract submission and registration.
The organisers have encouraged researchers, faculty members, students, government officials, NGOs and other stakeholders working in biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability and climate change to participate in the conference.
