DIMAPUR — A total of 678 participants joined the Run 4 Green Dimapur, a marathon organised by the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on Saturday, as part of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
The marathon was organised in collaboration with the district administration, Development Authority of Nagaland, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Nagaland Pollution Control Board, National Youth Climate Consortium (NYCC) and several NGOs, including Earth Alliance, Pro Rural, Team Better Dimapur and CanYouth.
In the men’s open category, Abhishek Yadav emerged as the winner, while Prince Yadav finished as runner-up.
In the women’s open category, Tsuchoi clinched the first position, followed by Songmo as runner-up. The winners of both the men’s and women’s categories were awarded INR 15,000 each, while the runners-up received INR 10,000 each.

In the junior boys’ category, Chuimithan Zimik claimed the first position, with Andan finishing as runner-up.
In the junior girls’ category, Supai secured the top spot, while Apoang took the runner-up position. The winners in both categories received cash prize of INR 10,000 each, while the runners-up were awarded INR 5,000 each.
Speaking during the event, DMC CEO Thungchanbemo Tungoe said that people of all ages took part in the Run for Green Dimapur and added that the purpose of the event is to make Dimapur more beautiful, greener, and to ensure cleaner air, stressing that this is just the beginning.
He mentioned that the event was not about crossing the finish line, but about showing care for the planet earth and urged the gathering to pledge to do their part in making the world, and especially Dimapur city, a better place to live.
At the event short speeches were also delivered by Director and founding member Earth Alliance, Nagaland, LH Thangi Mannen, member secretary of NPCB, K Hukato Chishi and EAC of Dimapur, Imlijungla Lemtur and about National Youth Climate Consortium (NYCC) was highlighted by Boka Rochill, while vote of thanks was delivered by C Thsapise Anar.
The run was flagged off from Urban Haat at 5 am, covering Purana Bazar, Burma Camp, Khermahal, and Clock Tower, before concluding outside the DMC office at Forest colony.
