Royal Club Kohima marked its 38th Raising Day celebrating its football legacy and community contributions in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — The Royal Club Kohima (RCK) observed its 38th Raising Day at Riiliezou, Kohima, on November 1 with K Kire, IPS (retd.), former director general of police, Nagaland, and the first general secretary of RCK, as the main speaker.
Addressing the members, Kire spoke on the genesis of the club and its contribution towards the growth of football in the state, according to an update.
He recalled how the club assisted the Kohima District Football Referees Association in conducting the then Senior Soccer League and subsequently began organising the All India Royal Gold Cup, affiliated with the All India Football Federation.
The tournament witnessed participation from prominent football teams, including Mohammedan Sporting Club, Jamshedpur Football Academy, Dempo Sporting Club, George Telegraph, FC Cochin, and ARC, among others.
Kire highlighted that the club comprised members from various walks of life, such as doctors, engineers, architects, academicians, contractors, businessmen, social workers, and politicians, with its motto "Service to all".

He said the Club rendered yeoman service through initiatives such as visitations on national days, tree plantation, Kohima town cleanliness drives, financial assistance to victims of natural calamities across India, and the organisation of traditional cart races, volleyball, wrestling, inter-school football tournaments, and debate competitions.
The Club also hosted the famous PC Sarkar magic show and constructed the Kohima Local Ground (Khuochiezie) gallery in a record 45 days to aid the 125th Quasquicentennial Celebration of the arrival of Christianity in the state.
The senior-most Club member, Vituohu Rame, called upon members to revive the club to once again excel and regain its pristine image.
The function was chaired by Royal Club Kohima President Kesao Kesiezie, who recalled the immense contribution of past members during their prime years. A two-minute silence was observed as a tribute to them.
