DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Hornbill Festival during a meeting with line and sectoral departments at Bamboo Hall, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
According to a DIPR update, Rio described the festival as Nagaland’s most significant annual event and stressed the need to improve infrastructure, sanitation, and beautification of the Heritage Village.
He underlined the importance of providing visitors with basic amenities such as drinking water, food, comfortable facilities, and proper sanitation.

Highlighting the importance of cleanliness, the chief minister called for greater public awareness and expressed satisfaction with the progress of works by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL).
He urged that all road projects be completed and operational before the festival begins.
Rio further said that the quality and content of the event must not be compromised, as the festival serves as a platform to showcase the best of Nagaland. He expressed optimism that this year’s edition would be celebrated in a grand manner.
Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN, Abu Metha, informed that several dignitaries, including foreign officials, are expected to attend the festival. He urged departments to sincerely address challenges to ensure success.
Tourism and Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along also shared his views, while departments including Tourism, Art & Culture, Industries & Commerce, Transport, PHE, PWD, and Power presented updates on their ongoing works.
