The Phesama Youth Organisation issues strict travel and timing regulations for the alternate road to Kisama.
DIMAPUR — The Phesama Youth Organisation (PYO) has issued a public notification regulating the safe use of the alternate road leading to Kisama, which has become a vital lifeline for the Southern Angami areas and neighbouring states due to ongoing landslides and road disruptions on the national highway.
In a press statement, the PYO has appealed to all concerned authorities, transporters, drivers, and the general public to strictly adhere to safety measures to ensure uninterrupted movement.
Under the regulations, the alternate road will remain accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Priority passage will be given to students, passengers, emergency vehicles, and essential commodities.

To ensure safe access and sustain livelihoods, the movement of pick-up trucks and small commercial vehicles carrying essential commodities is permitted only from 4 am to 6 am, 11 am to 1 pm, and 7 pm to 10 pm. Movement outside these hours is prohibited and will attract penalties. This order remains in force until further notice.
The PYO has temporarily restricted the transport of heavy construction materials on the alternate road to protect passengers and prevent the road from deteriorating. Additionally, vehicle carrying capacities have been restricted to approximately 50 per cent of their normal permissible capacity, particularly when transporting essential goods, to reduce pressure on the road.
The organisation stated that drunk driving will not be tolerated. Anyone found driving under the influence of alcohol will face a fine and a subsequent ban from using the alternate road.
The PYO has strongly appealed to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited to expedite the restoration of the affected and sinking national highway, stressing that repairs must meet proper engineering standards to achieve a permanent solution.
To assist the public and provide road-status updates during emergencies, a dedicated helpline has been established at 8798419713.
