DIMAPUR — The Environmental Science Department of Phek Government College, headed by Vilhoutuonuo Theunuo, organised an educational visit for the first semester Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science students to Phek District Hospital as part of the curriculum on Environmental Waste Management on August 22.
According to an update, the aim of this practical exposure was to help students understand the real-world application of waste segregation, treatment, and disposal techniques.
The resource person, Dr. Panger Longkumer, demonstrated how waste is segregated at the source using colour-coded bins — yellow for human tissues and soiled waste, red for contaminated plastics, white for sharps and glassware, and blue for general waste.
