DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), in collaboration with Achievers Academy, organised a career guidance seminar on ‘Navigating pathways to tomorrow’ on the theme “Empowering aspirations: Charting your course in a dynamic world,’ at Town Hall, Dimapur, on Saturday.
In her address, Dr. Arenla Aier, Sr. Project Manager, HR, at the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and one of the resource persons for the event, stated that IDAN is doing its best to contribute to the young generation of Nagaland.
However, she lamented that many Naga youths remain complacent at home, unaware of what is happening in Nagaland, or the government’s efforts to uplift them, and the various initiatives being taken by the government for their growth.

She added that this is one of the main reasons why they struggle to compete with people from other states and fail to secure placements in many sectors. Dr. Aier also noted that despite a large number of graduates passing out each year, many fail to secure jobs due to a lack of relevant skills.
She stressed that without skills, students cannot fit in anywhere, citing a UK government scholarship offer for two master's programs that required not just a BA degree but also a two-year skill certificate.
She added that today, skills and interviews are essential and questioned whether the students present are prepared for the job sector in the days ahead.
The project manager noted that, unlike students from other states who often have a clear vision after Class 10 or 12, many students in Nagaland lack direction, frequently choosing courses or colleges simply because their friends do.
Aier challenged the gathering to discover their true passion, reminding them that real success and satisfaction come not from money but from the happiness of doing what they love. She also highlighted various initiatives and schemes of IDAN aimed at promoting skilling and education across Nagaland.
Inspector of Excise Phira M, the second resource person, noted that Nagaland has a high literacy rate of 95.7%, as per the May 2025 report. However he pointed out that according to the latest NITI Aayog report, Nagaland ranks fourth in unemployment.
He emphasised that failure is an integral part of the journey to success, likening NPSC preparation to a full-time job without salary. Phira however assured that with at least three years of preparation, one can definitely crack the exam.
He also highlighted about the NPSC criteria, syllabus, and subject composition, while also sharing valuable insights on how to prepare effectively for the exam.
The seminar was attended by students from various colleges in Dimapur.
