The Phek DPDB meeting reviewed road maintenance for the monsoon and constituted the LADP verification committee.

DIMAPUR — The Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting at the deputy commissioner's (DC) conference hall in Phek on August 10. The meeting was chaired by DC and Vice Chairman of DPDB Phek, Rhosietho Nguori.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting deliberated on the road sector to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the current monsoon season in the district.
During the discussion, Executive Engineer (EE) of PWD (R&B) Phek Division, Vikerhe Venyo; EE of Public Works Department (Roads and Bridges) Pfutsero Division, Daniel; and EE of PWD/National Highway-29 Pfutsero-Chozuba of Phek, Yimkumwati Pongon, shared the status reports of the roads and their continuous maintenance efforts.
They apprised the house that vehicular traffic in the district is currently running smoothly without major difficulties.
The DC commended the efforts being made by the department in the district during the monsoon season and requested them to continue their work to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement for the forthcoming Independence Day celebration on August 15.

Niuland stresses proper use of 16th Finance Commission tied grants
The proposal for the establishment of Kendra Vidyalaya Sangathan in the Phek district was discussed. After a brief deliberation, the house unanimously agreed to recommend the proposal to the higher authority for final approval.
The meeting also discussed Local Area Development Programme (LADP) schemes for the current financial year 2026-27 and constituted a verification committee for all four assembly constituencies in the district. The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Pfutsero will be the convenor for the 16-Pfutsero Assembly Constituency (AC); the sub-divisional officer (Civil) Chizami for the 17-Chizami AC; the ADC Chozuba for the 18-Chozuba AC; and the ADC Phek Headquarters for the 19-Phek AC.
Departmental activities were presented by the Land Resources and Art and Culture departments. The DPO of LRD Phek, Agnes W Phewhuo, highlighted various development schemes being undertaken in Phek and shared the challenges faced by the department.
District Cultural Officer of Phek, Zhosa Sabo, highlighted the primary functions and cultural outreach programmes of the department, enumerating various ongoing schemes in the district.
