DIMAPUR — A practical parenting guide titled “Essential Baby Care for Every Parent – A Perfect Gift”, authored by paediatrician and neonatologist Dr. Akumtoshi, was formally launched at White Owl, Chümoukedima, on Monday.
According to a press release, the event was attended by healthcare professionals, parents, and invited guests.
The book provides simple, research-based guidance on essential newborn and infant care, including breastfeeding, safe sleep practices, vaccinations, and developmental milestones, aiming to help parents confidently navigate early parenthood.
The programme was hosted by Riko Kronu and featured addresses by publisher Hitoca H Sumi, the author Dr. Akumtoshi, and Atuno Rio, proprietor of White Owl. The ceremonial launch and prayer were led by Pastor Kevi Z Kevichüsa.

The publication carries a foreword by Prof. Dr. Michael Hall and has also received appreciation from international neonatology expert Prof. Dr. Mark Johnson, chief neonatologist, Southampton Children’s Hospital, UK.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Akumtoshi stressed the importance of accessible, evidence-based childcare information for families. He expressed hope that the book would serve as a reliable companion for new and expecting parents.
Pastor Kevi noted that it is indeed a “perfect gift” for baby showers and new parents.
The book is intended for parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals seeking simple and practical guidance on early child care. The book will be available in White Owl, Fusion store and soon in The Common Room in Kohima.
