DIMAPUR — The State Newborn Resource Centre (SNRC) was inaugurated at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima by Dr. Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, on February 27.
According to an update, the SNRC shall serve as the apex facility for neonatal care in the state, integrating upgraded Special Newborn Care Units and advanced clinical infrastructure.
The establishment of a separate SNRC facility, independent of the main Intensive Care Unit, will significantly enhance infection control measures and improve survival outcomes for vulnerable newborns, it said.

The primary objective of the SNRC is to reduce the infant mortality rate and eliminate preventable neonatal deaths.
The facility will function as a model centre for all SNCUs and Newborn Stabilisation Units (NBSUs) across districts, supporting capacity building of healthcare professionals, structured mentoring through a hub-and-spoke model, Facility-Based Newborn Care (FBNC) training programmes, and standardisation of quality newborn care services state-wide.
