DIMAPUR — The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed concern over what it described as a rising trend of physical assaults, harassment, and intimidation of Nagas by non-Nagas within the state.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the party said such incidents threaten the peaceful coexistence and harmony that Nagaland has long valued.

It maintained that while the state is known for its hospitality and acceptance of diverse communities, recent “unprovoked assaults” in marketplaces, public spaces, and residential areas have created fear and resentment.

“These developments cannot be ignored or brushed aside as isolated incidents, for they undermine the very fabric of trust and mutual respect that holds our society together,” the statement read.

The NPF urged law enforcement agencies to deal “firmly and swiftly” with such cases to restore public confidence. It further called upon district administrations and traditional institutions to remain vigilant against “anti-social behaviours.”

The party appealed to all citizens—both local and non-local—to uphold principles of peace, respect, and understanding.

“While Nagas welcome everyone to live and work peacefully in our land, any attempt to intimidate or physically assault local citizens will not be tolerated and must be met with the full force of the law,” it reiterated.
