KOHIMA — The Naga People's Front (NPF) 18th Chozuba AC held a consultative meeting at Bamboo Hall, Kisama, on Saturday, where party leaders called for unity and strengthening of the regional party following the merger of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) with the NPF.
Addressing the gathering, Advisor for CAWD representing 18th Chozuba AC, Kudecho Khamo, described the merger as "God's divine plan" and urged party workers to place the interests of the party above all else.
Stating that the NPF remains the custodian of Naga political aspirations, culture, identity, traditions and faith, Khamo called on party workers to rededicate themselves towards strengthening the party.
Recalling the legacy of former Chief Minister Vamuzo Phesao, who hailed from Chozuba AC, he said the constituency had inherited a rich political legacy and urged party workers to uphold it by working for the welfare and development of the people.
Khamo also stressed the need to continue supporting the leadership of Chief Minister and NPF president Neiphiu Rio. Referring to the implementation of the Municipal Act and the conduct of urban local body elections, he said development activities were taking place across towns and cities in the state, including in the constituency.

He further reiterated the constituency's initiatives of "One Family, One Project", "One Family, One Entrepreneur" and "One Family, One Prayer Time", launched last year to empower and uplift families.
Emphasising the role of the family as the foundation of social change, he called for greater public participation in the movement and urged citizens to actively participate in the Census 2027 exercise.
Former MLA and Chairman of the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Nuzota Swuro, described the NPF as a regional party that must be strengthened to withstand future challenges.
He said the Nagas were passing through a crucial period requiring strong leadership and expressed confidence that Rio was well-positioned to continue efforts towards an early resolution of the Naga political issue and the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) matter.
NPF Central Women Wing president and Padma Shri awardee Sano Vamuzo stressed the need to strategically strengthen the party and urged leaders to be accommodative and broad-minded in serving the people.
She called for unity among Nagas and all Naga political groups, advocated tolerance in both state and national politics, and encouraged people to understand Naga history and identity.
Working president of the Central Office Bearers (COB), Pusazo Luruo, said the merger had been undertaken in the interest of the Naga political issue.
Highlighting the sacrifices made by the party since its inception, he asserted that Rio remained committed to pursuing an early settlement of the issue.
Dr. Povotso Lohe, convenor of the NPF Central Legal Cell, reflected on the formation of the party and its role in advancing the Naga cause, calling on party workers to remain steadfast in serving the people.
Working president of NPF 18th Chozuba AC, Vezhosa Chuzho, stressed the need for unity and cohesion following the merger, stating that no distinction should be made between former party affiliations.
Describing the merger as a divine intervention, he called for strengthening the party from the grassroots level.
Former candidate Veprasa Nyekha urged party workers to closely monitor developmental schemes to ensure that people derived maximum benefits from government programmes.
During the meeting, the house unanimously adopted four resolutions. It acknowledged what it termed God's divine intervention in the merger of the NDPP with the NPF and resolved to work collectively to strengthen the party while supporting an honourable, acceptable and inclusive settlement of the Naga political issue.
The house also resolved to support and strengthen the leadership of Neiphiu Rio. It further appreciated Khamo for his efforts in bringing developmental activities to the constituency and resolved to continue supporting his leadership.
