The Naga People's Front Wokha Division has officially launched its ULB by-election campaign for Ward 8 (Tsumang-B) under the Wokha Town Council.

WOKHA — The Naga People's Front (NPF) Wokha Division formally launched its campaign for the upcoming urban local body (ULB) by-election to Ward No. 8 (Tsumang-B) under the Wokha Town Council (WTC) with a programme held at the division office on Wednesday.
On the occasion, speeches were delivered by party leaders, including representatives from the Council of Office Bearers (COBs), the candidate, and senior leaders.
John Ezung, Vice President of COB and Wokha Division In-charge, cautioned party workers against overconfidence, urging them to unite and work collectively to secure victory. COB member Grace Murry reminded supporters to extend their influence through friends and relatives to strengthen cooperation.
Highlighting the significance of the contest, Dr. Chumben Murry observed that the merger of the erstwhile Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislators into the NPF represented a strengthened collective identity. He stressed that success would depend on the efforts of the people and not complacency.

He expressed optimism about the candidature of Aling Lotha, noting that his professional background as an architect would contribute to town planning and smart development. He also encouraged youth engagement, citing the growing role of millennials and Gen Z in politics, and called for seminars on Viksit Bharat to inspire ideas for Viksit Nagaland.
Intending candidate Aling Lotha expressed gratitude to party members, leaders, and residents for their continued support, recalling the legacy of his late father, who previously represented the ward. He assured them he would work cohesively with party leaders and the community for progress.
Central Executive Committee (CEC) member and MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe described the by-election as significant following the merger of the NDPP into the NPF. He urged the candidate to visit every household in the ward, regardless of political affiliation, and advised party workers to avoid anti-party practices while striving for victory.
He highlighted close coordination among all wings of the party, including youth and women, to ensure success.
