DIMAPUR — A new trophy has been introduced for Nagaland’s prestigious NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, organised by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Angami Students’ Union (ASU).
The new trophy was unveiled by Organising Committee Convener Medo Yhokha, who is also a former MLA and former president of ASU, along with members of the organising committee and ASU President Diezevisie Nakhro and his team.

Officials stated that the change of trophy was necessitated as this year marks the silver edition of the tournament, which is held annually in honour of two student martyrs—Late Kekuojalie Sachü of Kohima Village and Late Vikhozo Yhoshü of Kigwema Village.
From the late 1980s until 1991, the tournament was played among the four ranges of ASU—Northern, Western, Southern, and Chakhro. Between 1992 and 1995, it was conducted at the popular Khouciezie (local ground), Kohima, under the banner of the Open NSF Martyrs’ Trophy.

After the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union won the championship for three consecutive editions, the tournament was renamed as the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy in 1998.
The first three editions (1998, 2000, and 2002) were held biannually. Since then, it has been organised annually. Therefore, although the tournament has been played for nearly 30 years, the current edition is marked as the silver jubilee edition.
The 25th edition will conclude on October 18.
