NBSE has declared the HSLC and HSSLC Compartmental and Improvement Examination 2026 results.
KOHIMA — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Thursday declared the provisional results of the HSLC and HSSLC Compartmental and Improvement Examinations 2026.
A total of 841 students qualified in the HSLC compartmental examination, while 345 students cleared the HSSLC compartmental examination.
According to NBSE, 2,906 students, including 1,405 boys and 1,501 girls, appeared for the HSLC Compartmental Examination 2026.
Of them, 841 students (389 boys and 452 girls) passed, registering an overall pass percentage of 28.94%.
In the HSLC Improvement Examination, 43 students (28 boys and 15 girls) appeared, of whom 40 students (26 boys and 14 girls) qualified.
The board informed that two students—one each from Noklak and Kiphire districts—were expelled for using mobile phones for copying during the examination.

However, both candidates will be permitted to appear in the next HSLC examination.
For the HSSLC Compartmental Examination, 712 Arts students (418 boys and 294 girls) appeared, with 224 candidates (127 boys and 97 girls) qualifying. In the Commerce stream, 132 students (76 boys and 56 girls) appeared, of whom 55 (33 boys and 22 girls) passed.
In the Science stream, 293 students (141 boys and 152 girls) appeared, with 66 candidates (26 boys and 40 girls) qualifying.
In the HSSLC Improvement Examination, eight Arts students (five boys and three girls) appeared, of whom seven (four boys and three girls) qualified.
In the Science stream, 126 students (63 boys and 63 girls) appeared, and 105 qualified. (The figures provided by NBSE for qualified Science candidates by gender—34 boys and 26 girls—do not match the reported total of 105, indicating a likely typographical error in the official data.) No candidates appeared for the Commerce Improvement Examination.
Meanwhile, NBSE Chairperson Rangumbuing Nsarangbe informed that original pass certificates are being issued to all successful candidates along with their marksheets.
Therefore, institutions need not issue provisional pass certificates, and educational institutions admitting students have been advised not to insist on provisional pass certificates.
The chairperson further stated that there will be no provision for rescrutiny or photocopies of answer scripts for the HSSLC Compartmental and Improvement Examinations 2026.
The NBSE also directed candidates to report any errors in their marksheets or pass certificates within 30 days of the publication of the Result Gazette.
Such requests for rectification must be submitted through the respective institution or examination centre.
