Nagaland University hosts international workshop on ‘Women’s voices’ with participants from different states across India.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland University (NU), Kohima campus, in collaboration with Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS) and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS), Germany, organised an national workshop on ‘Women’s voices’ on November 6 and 7.
An update from the university stated that the workshop was sponsored by Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung, Germany, wherein 10 women each from Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland participated in the workshop. The event was marked with an exhibition of their handicraft products and books.
Prominent participants included Prof. N Manimekalai, director of CWDS; Prof. Nitha N from CWDS; Patricia Mukhim from Meghalaya; Monalisa Changkija, Sano Vamuzo, Prof. Rosemary Dzuvichu from Nagaland; Renu Koyu, R Chai and Jarjum G Ete from Arunachal Pradesh; Melissa Fernandes from Goa and Neha Naqvi from RLS, South Asia.

The participants deliberated on the women’s rights, customary laws and issues on women’s age-old sufferings and ways to solve their problems.
Additionally, stories of resistance, change and solidarity were narrated, debated and resolutions as per Indian laws were contrived.
It is also discussed on PIL and solutions as per laws, where customary laws failed.
It stated that research scholars and teachers of English department also participated in the workshop.
